Library Renovation

DPPL’s Fast Forward Reno Starts October 19

And.... it begins!  DPPL's Fast Forward renovation project has a start date, October 19, 2015, and we are ready to go!

Next week (the week of September 21, 2015), library director Holly Sorensen and assistant director Roberta Johnson will be meeting with the approved (at the last board meeting) vendors Thomas Interior Systems (furniture) and Troop Contracting (construction) to finalize the specific timeline and specific order in which all the different pieces of the project will be executed.

The accepted vendor bids came in under the budgeted $2,330,000 for both phases of the project, leaving DPPL a comfortable $91,084 contingency fund should we need it. Explore all the renovation RFP documents here.

Virtually every area of the library will be touched by this project. It may get a little hairy.

But please know that DPPL's number one goal is to minimize disruption to you, our library users.

We will post a schedule of what library areas will be affected and when on this blog as soon as it is available.

Our most exciting news is that our anticipated end date is significantly sooner than anticipated.

Our new completion target date, for both Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the project, is June 1, 2016.

OK, we know, we know.  These kinds of projects quite often don't end on schedule. But we will do our very best!  One way or the other, we will be delivering to you the new spaces that support the technology and activity you have asked for very soon!

Questions?

Do you have any questions about the project?  Please email them to us and we will answer them in an upcoming FAQ blog post.

In the meantime, we wanted to share some of the latest renderings of The Commons teen space.
