Your library card
We want your library card to be the most valuable card in your wallet. With a library card, you can reserve study rooms ahead of time, use our online resources from home, and more. Don't have a library card? We have an online card application to get the process started. Here are some of the things to know about your library card:
Want to be sure you get all the newest books by your favorite authors? Fill out the online form for our new automatic holds service and we'll place holds for you on all of their new adult fiction titles. They'll be automatically yours!
Looking for personalized book suggestions, but don't have time to stop by the Readers’ Services Desk on the 3rd Floor? Our BookVine service allows you to fill out an online form with your preferences on the types of books you like to read, and get personalized recommendations back from a member of our Readers' Services Team.
Libraries are great place to learn new skills and meet new people too. We offer a wide range of online computer classes for beginner and intermediate users.
The Youth Services Department has many preloaded digital devices. From youngest to oldest, we've got you covered.
Library of Things
Need a high-quality microphone to run your Zoom program? Want some help converting your VHS home movies to DVD? Our Library of Things is a great way to try out new gadgets and see what other services we have to offer.

Museum Pass Program
The Museum Pass Program allows Des Plaines Public Library card holders to check out one pass per family for 7 days. You can download a list of the participating museums in English or Spanish; or visit their website for more information on what each pass allows. Some museums use the pass for buy-one-get-one admission or completely free admission into the facility.

We think libraries attract some pretty interesting people, including yourself. We host and sponsor a number of groups at the library including:
