Wednesday Crafternoons

It’s Wednesday. Let’s Leave Some Art Around!

Fall Leaves

Welcome back to Crafternoon!

Look outside and what do you see?

The leaves are changing.

The sun seems to set faster.

But most of all, there's a noticeable chill in the air.

It's officially FALL!

Or autumn if you're fancy like that.

In the past, we've covered bubble art, salt art, nail polish art, light art...

You can see where this is going.

This month, we're going to make some leaf art.

First, forage around for leaves of all shapes and sizes and of course, different colors!

All you need now is glue, scissors, and construction paper.

Grab some markers and decorating material too.

Ready to craft? Thistle be on point.

Step 1

Step 1

Cut Off Extra Pieces

Visualize what you want to create.

It can be a character, a nature scene, etc.

Start building the shape using leaves and cut off any extra pieces you don't need.

Step 2

Step 2

Glue Down Leaves

Draw an outline of the shape on construction paper.

Glue down leaves until outline is filled.

Step 3

Step 3

Add Another Shape (Optional)

Turn your leaf art into a scene.

Add some more shapes.

Will they be close together or far apart?

Step 4

Step 4

Embellish!

Decorate using markers and other crafty material like pom poms, sequins, etc.

We added some googly eyes to our characters.

Unbeleafable!

UNBELEAFABLE!

Say hello to Fern and Maple.

Speech bubbles are a great way to add life.

What did you make?

Try these other leaf crafts to celebrate the season.

For some, fall represents pumpkin spice lattes, apple picking, and sweaters.

For others, fall is mulched leaves, dry skin, and the early onset of relentless Christmas music haunting their retail adventures.

Whatever the case, nobody can deny that fall looks beautiful.

A treat for the eyes! Take a walk now and then and admire the colors in your neighborhood.

Don't forget to snap a couple of photos, tag them #DPCrafternoons and share with us on Facebook and Instagram.

And for more fun, Zoom In To Storytime with us on Thursday mornings and evenings (no twigs attached).

Be sure to see our online calendar for other upcoming programs.

Check back in next month for more awesomeness!
