Happening at the library

The Commons Back in School Mode

It's that time of the year when you can't stay up late anymore nor sleep in, well at least on weekdays.

The worst has come, it's back to school.

One of our regulars enjoying Project Linus.

Now that school is back, the Commons is the place to get your community service hours for the National Honor Society or any other cause that requires you to get community service hours.

Project Linus

Project Linus is perhaps one of the teens' first picks as a favorite. Teens have the opportunity to make a blanket for a child in need. We provide all the material and show how to do them.

However, because material is limited we do require for teens to sign up.  This program is hosted once a month from 10am-12pm on a Saturday.

Cards for Hospitalized Kids

Teens show their ctreative side as they make cards for kids that have been hospitalized. This program is also hosted once a month on a Saturday from 10am-12pm.

Study Hours

The Commons has quiet study hours from Monday-Thursday from 5pm-7pm. Starting September 11, we will have tutoring from 6-8pm every Tuesday that Maine West is on session (that means not during winter break nor spring break).

ACT & SAT Prep

We also have a free one-time practice ACT or SAT test. This does require students to register ahead of time to save them a spot. The exam starts promptly at 9:30am and ends around 1pm. It is hosted on Saturdays, but for exact dates please reference the teen calendar on our home page.

Girls Who Code

6-12th grade girls, join this hands-on weekly club and learn to use computer science to impact your life and community. Meets Tuesdays September - April. Sign up today!
