Kids Dance to the Rhythm at Summer Reading Club

Every child is born with natural rhythm in their body and soul. To satisfy your child's need to "move it, move it," DPPL's 2015 "Read to the Rhythm" Summer Reading Club has the answer - Music, Movement, Beats and Books, a series of special storytimes sure to make kids of all ages want to get up and dance.

Do your kids love to stomp, kick and twirl? Bring them to Tap Your Toes Tuesday evening June 30th or to the Jitterbug Ball Tuesday evening July 14th to learn some new steps.

Do your children have wiggly hips? They can learn to do the Hawaiian hula at Aloha Time Tuesday evening July 7th.

Does your little prince or princess want to dance at the royal ball? Come to the Royal Dance Party Monday evening July 13th.

Is your son or daughter a budding rockstar? Rock Out with Pete the Cat on Thursday afternoon or evening July 23rd, or take Rockstar Training Friday afternoon July 31st.

What if your child enjoys no particular style of dance? Then have them Make Some Noise Tuesday morning July 28th, or shake it up at Wild Times Wednesday mornings July 1st-29th.

If these programs aren't enough for your movin' and groovin' kids, consider registering your children for one of the Des Plaines Park District's summer dance camps: Teeny Tiny Dancer (3-5 year olds), Camp Dance-A-Lot (6-10 year olds), Camp Remix (11-15 year olds), Dance and Arts Camp (pre-K through teens).

Local Des Plaines dance studios - the Des Plaines School of Dance - Artistry in Motion, the AMA Dance & Music School and Galina Dance Studio also offer leveled group classes in ballet, pointe, tap, hip-hop and modern dance.
