Service Interruption: Friday, October 16th after 9 pm – Tuesday, October 20th morning
Our network is growing! We are excited to welcome Rolling Meadows Library and Wauconda Area Public Library to our consortium. This means more resources at your fingertips, from books to movies and more. During this period, please note that our app, calendar and some additional online resources will be temporarily unavailable. Rest assured, none of your items will be due during this time and you can still check out materials. Full service is expected to resume on Tuesday, October 20th. Thank you for your understanding and patience during this exciting time!
In the United States, we celebrate Labor Day in September. In other countries around the world, May 1st is recognized as a day of celebration and advocacy for workers’ rights.
On May 1st, 1886, hundreds of thousands of workers across the globe held a general strike for an eight-hour workday.
Days later, a bloody conflict at a rally in Chicago’s Haymarket Square shook the labor movement and the country.
To commemorate these events, May 1st was declared International Workers’ Day in 1889.
If you love audiobooks, or if you are just getting started with them, the SYNC audiobook program is fun, and interesting.
You may already know it as it has been a summer program for the past 12 years.
It’s targeted toward teens but anyone over 13 years old can access.
Each week the SYNC program provides two thematically paired audiobooks for checkout and use with the Sora App.
Once the titles have been added to your shelf in Sora, you can listen to them again and again, for as long as you want – just make sure you don’t return them!
The Youth Services Team loves going on adventures together through books, movies, video games, and much more. Find out where your favorite librarians have traveled this month!
