We want your library card to be the most valuable card in your wallet. With a library card, you can reserve study rooms ahead of time, use our online resources from home, and more. Want to be sure you get all the newest books by your favorite authors? Fill out the online form for our new automatic holds service and we'll place holds for you on all of their new adult fiction titles. They'll be automatically yours!

Looking for personalized book suggestions, but don't have time to stop by the Readers’ Services Desk on the 3rd Floor? Our BookVine service allows you to fill out an online form with your preferences on the types of books you like to read, and get personalized recommendations back from a member of our Readers' Services Team.

Explore More Illinois

Explore More Illinois is a free service provided by your library that grants instant online access to free and discounted tickets to museums, science centers, sporting events, zoos, park districts, theatres, and other fun and local cultural venues. Museum Pass Program

The Museum Pass Program allows Des Plaines Public Library card holders to check out one pass per family for 7 days. Visit their website for more information on what each pass allows. Some museums use the pass for buy-one-get-one admission or completely free admission into the facility.

Discussion groups at the library 

We think libraries attract some pretty interesting people, including yourself. We host and sponsor a number of groups at the library including: 

  • Discussion groups - bigger and better than ever via Zoom - join us to talk about books, films, and new technology!
  • Writing group - currently unavailable
