Test proctoring

Contact us at help@dppl.org to set up an exam.

Here's what you need to know:

Our test proctoring service is free. However, you must have a Des Plaines Public Library card to use this service.

Scheduling your exam

You must contact us at least TWO weeks before you need to take your exam.

Test proctoring is available:

  • On weekdays by appointment only
  • No earlier than 10:30am, and must end by 8:30pm
  • All test-takers must present a photo ID
  • All exams are held on the 4th floor
  • Library staff will not stay in the room with you
  • You must confirm in writing that you have instructor or institution approval to take the exam even though library staff will not stay in the room with you for the exam.

Please note: If you do not confirm your testing date and time, or do confirm and do not show up, we will decline proctoring services in the future.

For paper exams

We can book a private study room (with a door) for you on the 4th floor.

For online exams

You can use a library laptop computer in a private study room on the fourth floor. Again, Library staff will not stay in the room with you.

If permitted (or required), you can take your test on an Internet-access desktop computer for adults in the public area on the 4th floor.

Submitting your completed exam

We are happy to scan and e-mail, or fax, your completed exam to your school or institution. However, if the physical test must be sent to the school or institution, you must provide an envelope and appropriate postage.
