How Do I...

1: Select 'Tools' --> 'Internet Options' from the IE menu.
2: Click the 'Advanced' tab.
3: Check the 2nd option under 'Security' in the tree (Allow active content to run in files on my computer.)

Every patron of the Des Plaines Public Library is treated to a warm welcome and excellent customer service. Some patrons require an even higher level of service and outreach and we are delighted to offer them special services. In the Special Services area, you'll find information on:

Our Mobile Library and its schedule of neighborhood stops;
Our homebound delivery service, for those temporarily or permanently unable to visit the library in person;
Assistive technology (readers, magnifiers, book holders, etc.) and innovative services to bring reading & research to as many people as possible;
Services to those in nursing homes, retirement communities, schools and community organizations.

ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY AND SERVICES

Assistive Technology - Learn about our SARA and Reading Edge reading machines, magnifiers, Brailler typewriter, Talking Books and more.

Large Type Books and Audiobooks - The library offers a wide variety of large type books and audiobooks. Large type books are set in print that makes reading easier for some individuals. Audiobooks, both on cassette and compact disc, are either abridged (a shortened version) or unabridged (the entire book). These materials are on the third floor. For assistance, call the Readers' Services Desk at 847-376-2840.

OUTREACH - DPPL out in the community

Deposit Collections - We can create a small library within your residential institution.
