Youth Services has 13 computers for children that include Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), filtered Internet, online databases and School District 62 databases. A library card is required to use the computers. Black and white and color printing are available for a fee. Ear buds are also available for a fee. Four learning computers are geared to toddlers and preschoolers with their parents. Software on these computers includes Arthur’s Preschool, I SPY Junior, Reader Rabbit Toddler and more. Two additional learning computers have software for grade school children including Book Worm Deluxe, Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing and more.

LIBRARY TOURS

Bring your students to the library for a walking tour of the Youth Services Department. We will include a storytime and encourage young children to browse our picture book section. For older students, we will include a grade-appropriate storytime and time for browsing. You may request research orientation for older students instead of storytime. To schedule a tour, please phone Sara McLaughlin at 847-376-2795 or the Youth Services Desk at 847-376-2839. Two weeks advance notice, please. Alternate dates and/or times appreciated.

MOBILE LIBRARY

Introduce your students to the treasures of the library with a special visit from our library on wheels. Our Mobile Library has books and other materials for school age children. To arrange a Mobile Library visit, please call 847-376-2783.
