Basic Computer Classes for Adults

BASIC COMPUTER SKILLS - one two-hour session

You will learn:

  • How to use a mouse
  • How to move back and forth between programs
  • How to resize a window
  • How to move a window around the screen
  • How to save materials onto a disk
  • And more!

INTRODUCTION TO THE INTERNET - one two-hour session

You will learn:

  • Basic searching
  • How to type in a known address
  • How to recognize and click on links
  • How to use browser buttons (back, stop, etc.)
  • How to recognize the differences between .com, .gov, .org, and the authoritativeness and accuracy of these types of sites
  • How to scroll using the sidebar and arrows on the keyboard
  • How to use the library web page and catalog

INTERMEDIATE INTERNET SEARCHING - one two-hour session

You will learn:

  • How to create more effective searches
  • How to use an Internet directory
  • How to access library databases
  • How to find newspaper and encyclopedia articles
  • And more!

DROP-IN EMAIL ASSISTANCE

This informal drop-in session focuses on working with email. A librarian will be on hand to help you set up an email account or solve your email related problems.
