The Friends of the Library is a nonprofit volunteer group that supports programs, collections, services, and equipment that are not funded by the library's regular budget. The Friends was founded in April 1954 by a planning committee of the American Association of University Women, Northwest Suburban Branch, and the parent organizations of the local schools.
