Looking for information about your favorite artist?
Try one of our online encyclopedias. The library currently carries
several, including Encyclopedia Americana, Grolier Multimedia
Encyclopedia, and World Book Encyclopedia. These encyclopedias are
only available inside the library.
For more in-depth information, try Biography
Resource Center, containing information about more than 185,000
people. With links to Internet sites, thumbnail and narrative
biographies, and magazine articles, Biography Resource Center
carries all the information you need about the artist's life and
work. This database may be accessed both inside the library and at
home.
Links to a variety of art resources may be found in
the Librarians' Guide to Internet Sites in the Reference Services
section of our Web site. Artcyclopedia allows you to search for
artists by name, medium, nationality, or subject. You may also look
for museums or for artworks by title. Use Artchive to search by
period or style, such as Renaissance or Cubism, or by the artist's
name. New links are added as the Librarians' Guide is updated by
library staff.
