Your Library on Wheels
by Bob Blanchard, Head of Community Services

The Mobile Library is your "library on wheels." You can visit us at a variety of locations throughout the city, such as parks, schools, and neighborhoods. We have nearly all of the kinds of materials that the library does - the current bestsellers in fiction and nonfiction, books in various fiction genres, children's books, large type books, audiobooks, magazines, CDs, videocassettes and a new collection of DVDs. We also have friendly and helpful staff who offer one-on-one service.

Reading will "rock" on the Mobile Library this summer. "Reading Rocks" is the theme of this year's summer reading club, and adults and children can participate on the Mobile Library.

Our summer schedule takes effect June 17. This schedule includes 36 stops on a biweekly basis. One big change is the days that we will be in service. This summer, the Mobile Library will operate from Monday through Friday, instead of Tuesday through Saturday. All of the Saturday stops are incorporated into the summer schedule, on different days and at different times. We will also be stopping at some summer school locations.

Summer schedules are available on the Mobile Library, at the main library, on the library Web site or by phoning 847-376-2793. If you would like your neighborhood considered for the fall schedule, please phone 847-376-2793. Come check out the Mobile Library when it stops near you!

Mobile Library patrons are greeted by (l. to r.) Dodie Frisbie, Bob Blanchard, Christina Brennan, Phyllis Johnson, and Margie Borris.
