In the year since we opened the doors of the new
library to the public, we have received an abundance of comments
from you about our facilities and services. Each comment has
helped us understand how you felt, what you liked, and what you
wanted to be changed or improved. We are grateful for your
suggestions and have implemented many of them. How have we
listened and responded? Let me count the ways:
"A computer catalog that is easier to
use."
Coming in late December or early January.
"Improved parking and bookdrop
deposits."
One way traffic that allows driver side accessibility; additional
handicapped parking and short term spaces; longer time limits.
"Improved accessibility."
The west side entrance to the lobby will be replaced with an
automatic sliding door by end of the year.
"Improved photocopier and print
services."
New black and white digital copiers and a new color copier for the
public.
"Return of the Sunday afternoon films."
Friends of the Library will sponsor these films beginning in
September.
"Return of date due slips."
They’re back.
"Another opportunity to buy a commemorative
brick for the plaza."
Bricks are on sale until December 31, 2001.
As you can see, we’ve answered your requests to
the depth and breadth and height our resources and resourcefulness
can reach. Please keep your comments and suggestions coming. And,
join us @ your library on Sunday, September 30 at 2 p.m.
for the celebration of how far we’ve come in the past twelve
months.
