Have you had an opportunity to try our new
Web-based catalog? The new catalog named GeoWeb has all the
features of the old text-only catalog with the ease-of-use and
availability of an Internet browser. GeoWeb works in any Web
browser, such as Internet Explorer, Netscape, or even AOL. With
it, you can search for items owned by any of the 19 libraries in
the CCS consortium, including our library and mobile library. In
addition, links are provided to three other area libraries that
are outside our consortium.
When you use GeoWeb, you have access to call
numbers and shelf status of all the library’s materials. You can
search by author, title, or subject, and can even limit your
search to particular types of materials, such as videos or CDs.
You can search just our library, or all 19 on our system. You can
also place reserves through the catalog on nearly all of the items
you find.
Using the catalog also gives you
password-protected access to lists of materials you have checked
out, or items you have on reserve. GeoWeb will even allow renewal
of materials that are not on reserve for someone else or that are
otherwise non-renewable. Your library card is required to access
these services.
In the near future, the library will be switching
to a fully Web-based catalog, with all of these functions and
more. Try out GeoWeb for a taste of what’s to come.
