"Book A Trip" with Summer Reading Clubs
For children and adults

This summer, "book a trip" by participating in the library's Summer Reading Clubs for children and adults. Events begin with Mr. D's Magic Show at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 10. Registration also begins on June 10 at the library and Tuesday, June 19, on the Mobile Library. Activities are funded in part by generous contributions from Friends of the Library, CoVest Banc, and the Des Plaines Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

All children who read at least eight books will earn a prize. Programs for children include preschool movies, drop-in storytimes, creating a mural, a costume party, an orienteering scavenger hunt, origami instruction, science activities, and a young performers' play.

Adults will pick up game cards when they register. Their cards will be stamped as they read and complete various reading-related activities to enter the grand prize drawing.

New for teens this year are three poetry workshops. Participants will give a poetry reading at the final party -- an Ice Cream Social for the whole family, with music by the Prairie Brass Band, on Sunday, August 5, 2-4 p.m.
