The Youth Services Department is located on the second floor.
Each floor has its own unique color scheme. The theme color for this
floor is blue.

The wave banners help carry out the river theme,
which is prominent on the second floor. They also create the
illusion of a lowered ceiling. The lower ceiling, shorter
shelf heights, and proportionate furniture help to make small
children feel comfortable and welcome. |
| The boat has been named C. Friendship by the
donor, who wishes to remain anonymous. Here, children may
read, play with the puppets, or pretend to be captain. |

|
| Computers for homework and recreational use are
available on this floor. The Internet computers here are
filtered. |

There are separate areas where grade school and
middle school children may read or relax. They may also play
checkers or chess on oversized game boards in the carpeting.
Bright fun furniture makes this an inviting place to
"just hang out." |
| The Poet Tree Corner features a tree built out
from the northeast corner of the second floor. Inside, there
is room for a child to sit and read or write. The area also
includes an interactive magnetic poetry board and a stage with
levels for performing or reading. All are set against a
backdrop of river and sky. In addition, the children's poetry
books have been relocated to the Poet Tree Corner. |
