Architects and librarians from Mexico tour the Des Plaines Public Library during their visit to the Chicago area to gather information and ideas for the construction of the new Jalisco Public Library.
November 2005
Members of the Des Plaines Public Library staff attend the International Book Fair in Guadalajara, Mexico and visit the Biblioteca Benjamín Franklin for the first time.
While in Guadalajara, staff from the libraries exchanged these items to commemorate their participation in the Sister Libraries project.
November 2006
Library Director Sandra Norlin and other members of the Des Plaines Public Library staff were welcomed to the Biblioteca Benjamín Franklin with a tour and a presentation by librarian Uriel Montes.
September 2007
Uriel Montes, a librarian from Biblioteca Benjamín Franklin, visited the Des Plaines Public Library for a week. This was the first librarian exchange as part of the Sister Libraries agreement.
November 2007
Members of the Des Plaines Public Library returned to the International Book Fair to purchase Spanish books for children and adults that were published throughout Mexico, Central and South America.
While in Guadalajara, Des Plaines Public Library Reference Librarian Jill Franklin met with Biblioteca Benjamín Franklin staff to discuss her librarian exchange visit set to take place in Spring 2008.
