Dear Subscriber: Here's your chance to be part of a public discussion on a topic of special interest to Des Plaines residents. Read all about it in this issue. Then, register for one of the community forums. If you don't want to actively participate, come and be part of the audience. Everyone is invited to attend. Area residents are invited to join in a special public discussion on the issue, “Meeting the Needs of Des Plaines Residents: What Does it Take?” Four public forums on this topic will be held at locations throughout Des Plaines during May. Advance registration is suggested, but all are welcome to attend and participate. The forums are part of a $37,000 grant-funded project of the Des Plaines Public Library and its seven community partners. The project is called “Building Community Through Creative Conversations.”
Forums will be held:
Participants will use a special guide created by the local grant partners for background information. The guide is available at the library and on the library Web site. The forum moderators were specially trained by the College of DuPage Public Policy Institute using the methods of the National Issues Forums. One or more of the Des Plaines forums will be videotaped for subsequent broadcast on City Cable Channel 17.
